2020 was a hell of a year, 2021 will be one too.
This past year began with the onset of a pandemic followed by numerous events that didn’t seem to end. But through all that I was able to stay inspired and accomplish a lot. “Write more!” is what I keep hearing repeat in my head, so this is how I will begin my stride into the new year. I’m now writing this entry one month into the new year, so this will be my first blog post of the year…Let’s start with a recap of 2020.
Flashback to January 2020
I find myself in Northeast India at the tail end of a nine month long expedition working on botanical research and documentation for a photos series I have been conceptualizing for a few years now. Exhausted and ready to return home, I begin to prepare for my departure shortly after the new year.
I returned home January 2020. Fast forward a few months and the world has a full-on pandemic on its hands. I find myself in the spare room at my mom’s house. In this space I was able to stay in one place after traveling for 9 months the year prior. Being still for a year allowed me to direct energy into a documentary series I have been trying to get off the ground since 2017. Within span of 5 months I was able to:
- Launch a crowdfund to raise funds for production gear. That was a success, with the help of many raising $26k I was able to purchase the necessary gear to move forward with the production of the series.
- Organized a film crew and began moving forward with production of Episode one.
- Built a website and released a pre-trailer
Continuing production of Growing Back to Nature The Series is a top priority for this year. With being well into the shooting of episode one, I still have more episodes to begin filming. Episode two will take place in Germany so my hopes for this year’s EU Covid restrictions will ease as we move forward into 2021. As for the rest of the episodes, production will take place here in the States. I’m determined to get these ideas out into the world, to inspire people by showing how we can create a modern world that exist harmoniously with the nature.
How You Can Help
Moving forward with this project funding will be essential for the completion of GROWING BACK TO NATURE THE SERIES. Getting to shoot locations, hiring a crew, and all other production cost will begin to determine the pace of project completion.
